Fannin High Students Complete Inaugural Fannin Youth Initiative Program

May 1, 2019

Fannin County Development Authority, in partnership with the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce and Fannin County School System, successfully completed the inaugural Fannin Youth Initiative (FYI) Program on April 23, 2019.  The program was rolled out to 10th and 11th grade students in January 2019 and included five sessions where students interacted with community leaders, small business owners, young professionals, and took a trip to the State Capitol.  Professional development was also integrated through the duration of the program (January – April).

The program was free to students and funded primarily by sponsorships.  After a successful first year, it is our goal that the program will continue for years to come.

In addition, the FYI program was entered into the State of Georgia Atlanta Electrical Contractors Competition for innovative employability skills has was chosen as the winner!  $1,000 was awarded and will go back into the 2020 program.
