Currently no business license is required in the unincorporated areas of Fannin County unless you will be operating a cabin rental, bed and breakfast, hotel or other lodging facility. If you will be opening a lodging facility you need to contact the Fannin County Tax Commissioners’ Office to obtain a license. In addition to the license all lodging facilities will be responsible for collecting the 3% “hotel-motel” tax.

Building Permits & Land Use Ordinances
The cities of Blue Ridge and McCaysville issue all land use and building permits to businesses located within the city limits in accordance with city land use and zoning ordinances. To obtain a copy of the zoning and building ordinances or to obtain a permit contact the appropriate city hall.

7% -- City and County have a 3% local sales tax in addition to the 4% state sales tax.
Inventory Tax
Fannin County exempts 100% of all classes of certain business inventory from property taxation.
100% Freeport Tax Exemption
Property Taxes
Effective tax rates per $1,000 of property at its fair market value. This rate applies to all land, building, machinery, equipment and inventory.
